Event Description:
LAKE MICHIGAN COLLEGE VISUAL & PERFORMING ARTS DEPARTMENT PRESENTS: PUFFS, Or: Seven Increasingly Eventful Years at a Certain School of Magic and Magic by Matt Cox Puffs is a parody of a well-known boy wizard story told from the perspective of the underdogs, who are often overlooked and underestimated. The Puffs are a group of misfits who always come in last. Over the course of seven increasingly eventful years, they hope to at least come in third place, but they eventually find that friendship and belonging are the real prize. This lighthearted show is campy and told in a comedic stylized way, with exaggerated, ironic, non-realistic themes and effects. While based on the family-friendly series, this show is geared for adults and contains adult language and humor, therefore Puffs is recommended for mature audiences. Puffs is part of a thematic season that focuses on fantasy and the magic of the imagination, as well as connection and belonging. Shalico Sain, Theatre Instructor and Director, thought the audience would connect with the story of Puffs since it was based on a well-known franchise, and quite frankly, she just found the script so side-splitting hilarious, and thought we could all use some levity in our lives and world right now, and what better place than to come to the theatre to escape and enjoy some laughs for a few hours. "Puffs (Two Act Edition)" is presented by arrangement with Concord Theatricals on behalf of Samuel French, Inc. www.concordtheatricals.com
